Volunteers are the heart and soul of C.A.R.E.™ and provide our full range of services, including fostering animals, conducting adoptions, providing humane education, participating in community outreach and fundraising.
C.A.R.E. is currently a foster based organization, so we rely on foster homes to provide temporary homes for cats, dogs, kittens, and puppies awaiting adoption. Training and supplies are provided. More foster homes are desperately needed. Applications are available online at www.care-evanston.org/foster.
Volunteers are needed for outreach, showing pets at local stores or providing information at events. To volunteer with C.A.R.E., call 847–705–2653 and a volunteer coordinator will return your call. A car is required because many of our events are in suburban locations, and we may need help transporting animals.
Food Pantry Outreach
Each Wednesday C.A.R.E. volunteers staff the Pet Food Corner as part of the food distribution mission at Irving Park Community Food Pantry in Chicago. Pet food and supplies are distributed to pet owners in need so pets can remain with their families. We are seeking volunteers who can help with logistics of food transport and aggregation. To learn more, click HERE for for details or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
To arrange a classroom speaker or other educational programs, please call 847–705–2653.
C.A.R.E. also provides pet food to local food pantries. If you know someone in need of food for their pet, please direct them to C.A.R.E. for more information.
