Thank you to Miss Teodoro's First Grade Class at Hubbard Woods Elementary School

When it comes to supporting animal rescue, few can top the zeal of a group of first-graders in Winnetka. Over one week in April, Miss Marcie Teodoro’s class of 14 first-grade students at the Hubbard Woods Elementary School held a donation drive on behalf of C.A.R.E.

The Donation Drive was held in response to a classroom visit by C.A.R.E. volunteers Laura Andrews and Margaret Sinn-Pong to talk to the students about animal rescue.

Cat Volunteers Wanted

C.A.R.E. volunteers have been working hard getting our new adoption center ready on the North side of Chicago. We're not quite ready for prime time, but almost! A simple storefront has been turned into a cat sanctuary. Our research led us to the 'catio' concept, with a generous amount of space allocated per cat, along with climbing trees, scratch posts, beds, etc. The atmosphere is colorful and upbeat.  Read more...

Have you been to a C.A.R.E. Adoption Event?

Every weekend C.A.R.E. Volunteers go to local stores to show off wonderful pets for adoption.

As a foster-based rescue group, C.A.R.E. relies on adoption events to showcase our animals, educate, and reach out to the community. Our adoption events at retail partners have become an invaluable part of C.A.R.E.'s activities. The adoptable animals get exposure, and the stores provide a venue for 'meet and greet' sessions. C.A.R.E. volunteers freely give advice on pets - ask us anything, and we're glad to help problem-solve. C.A.R.E. is dedicated to responsible pet ownership: spaying/neutering; lifetime commitment to pets; regular vaccinations, etc. We sometimes find new volunteers who connect with us at these events. We can always use more animal-loving volunteers! read more

Remembering Pauline Yearwood

Please join us in remembering Pauline Yearwood, who passed away Dec. 22, 2015, from pancreatic cancer. Pauline was a devoted volunteer for C.A.R.E. for 17 years and gave her time selflessly. Most recently, she filled the role of adoption counselor, and helped dozens of homeless cats find adoptive homes. Pauline was a remarkably kind woman, an animal lover and activist, vegan, and a true original. Pauline will be remembered fondly and missed by many.

Support C.A.R.E. on #GIVINGTUESDAY - Tuesday December 1

C.A.R.E. is proud to participate in #GivingTuesday by joining the #ILGive initiative!

We give thanks on Thanksgiving, go to the mall on Black Friday, and browse the web on Cyber Monday. Now, we have a day dedicated to giving back. On #GivingTuesday (this year on December 1), nonprofits, families, businesses, and students around the world come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.

In Illinois, Donors Forum is coordinating this initiative -- #ILGive -- and we have one bold goal: $12 million raised by Illinois nonprofits from 100,000 individual donors -- in one day.
